(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The new 2012 Izod IndyCar Series car will make its testing debut next week.
A test of the new Dallara chassis is scheduled for August 8th and 9th at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Complex.
The IndyCar Series races at Mid-Ohio on Sunday.
Reigning Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon will drive the prototype during next week's test with a new 2.2 liter Honda V6 engine as the power plant.
The test is described as a shake-down for the new chassis.
Honda has been the sole engine supplier to the IndyCar series since 2006, but two new suppliers join the fray next year in Chevrolet and Lotus.
Engine testing is scheduled to begin in October.
