(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Garrett Jones hit a solo home run leading off the bottom of the eleventh inning to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Andrew McCutchen hit a three-run homer for Pittsburgh in the third as the Pirates built a 3-1 lead.
The Redbirds tied it in the sixth on Albert Pujols' 30th home run of the season and an RBI double by David Freese.
Matt Holliday gave St. Louis a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth with a sacrifice fly before Neil Walker hit Fernando Salas' first pitch in the bottom of the ninth over the right field wall to tie the game.
The Cardinals' loss combined with Milwaukee's 2-1 win over the Dodgers drops St. Louis seven games back in the NL Central race.
