(CHICAGO, IL) - Alfonso Soriano homered and drove in a pair of runs as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Washington Nationals 4-2.
The Nationals scored an unearned run in the first but the Cubs tied the game in the second on Geovany Soto's twelfth home run of the year, a solo blast off Nats starter Ross Detwiler.
Soriano put Chicago up to stay with an RBI double in the fourth.
Reed Johnson hit a solo shot off Detwiler in the fifth, but Jayson Werth drew Washington to within a run again when he homered off Chicago starter Rodrigo Lopez in the sixth.
Soriano restored the Cubs' two-run advantage with a solo homer off Colin Balester in the bottom of the sixth as the Cubs halted a two-game skid.
