(CHICAGO, IL) - Michael Morse and Jonny Gomes homered in the sixth inning to power the Washington Nationals past the Chicago Cubs 3-1.
Chien-Ming Wang and Matt Garza engaged in a scoreless duel for the first five innings before Morse hit a solo shot off Garza with one out in the top of the sixth.
After Jayson Werth reached on an infield single, Gomes unloaded to left field to give Washington a 3-0 lead.
The Cubs got one run back in the bottom of the eighth when Starlin Castro hit a solo homer off reliever Tyler Clippard.
Wang allowed just one hit in his six innings of work to pick up his first major league win since June 28th, 2009 when he was a member of the New York Yankees.
