(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) - Randy Wells fired a complete-game two-hitter as the Chicago Cubs shut out the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants 7-0.
Wells allowed a walk and struck out seven in completing his first career shutout and improving to 6-4.
He got plenty of help from an offense that hit four home runs, three off two-time National League Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum.
Blake Dewitt ended Lincecum's night with a three-run shot in the seventh.
Earlier, Alfonso Soriano and Geovany Soto hit solo homers.
Steve Edlefsen replaced Lincecum and retired Aramis Ramirez before giving up a solo blast to Carlos Pena.
Marlon Byrd added an RBI single as the Cubs snapped a four-game losing streak.
