(PITTSBURGH, PA) - The Pittsburgh Pirates snapped a three-game skid with a 6-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ryan Doumit delivered the key blow in the bottom of the fourth, hitting a three-run home run off St. Louis starter Jake Westbrook.
Xavier Paul added a solo shot off Westbrook, who allowed four runs on nine hits over five and two-thirds innings.
James McDonald got the win for Pittsburgh, allowing two runs on six hits over five and two-thirds to move to 8-6.
Westbrook drops to 9-7.
The Cardinals' loss combined with Milwaukee's win at home over the Dodgers drops the Redbirds six games behind the Brewers in the NL Central.
