(ST. LOUIS, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals blew a four-run lead in the ninth inning and fell to the New York Mets 8-6.
Allen Craig hit a two-run homer and Albert Pujols added a solo shot as the Redbirds took a 6-2 lead to the final inning.
Jason Motte, Mark Rzepczynski and Fernando Salas failed to do the job in the ninth as New York scored six runs.
Ruben Tejada tied the game with a two-run double off Salas and Willie Harris drove in the go-ahead runs with a two-run single off Salas.
The loss was especially painful for the Cardinals as both Milwaukee and Atlanta had the day off.
The Redbirds fall five games behind the brewers in the NL central and two games behind the braves in the n-l wild card chase.
