(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Quarterback Kerry Collins was absent as the Indianapolis Colts returned to the practice field on Thursday.
Collins left Sunday night's loss to Pittsburgh with concussion-like symptoms.
Curtis Painter took the snaps during practice and could get his first NFL start when the Colts face the Buccaneers Monday Night in Tampa.
The Colts re-signed Dan Orlovsky earlier in the week to give them some depth at quarterback should Collins be unable to play.
Also missing practice on Thursday were quarterback Peyton Manning, who is listed as "out", offensive lineman Ryan Diem, defensive linemen Dwight Freeney and Fili Moala and linebacker Ernie Sims.
Indianapolis is off to an 0-3 start for the first time since 1998, Manning's rookie season.
They have shown improvement from week to week, falling to the Steelers on a last-second field goal last weekend.
The Buccaneers are 2-1 and are coming off a 16-13 victory over division-rival Atlanta last Sunday.
