Manning Underwent Neck Surgery On Thursday

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Peyton Manning underwent another round of neck surgery on Thursday and is out indefinitely.

The Indianapolis Colts quarterback underwent single level anterior fusion surgery.

A statement released by the Colts says that two former Colts players had similar procedures last winter and have since resumed their careers.

The team will not estimate a date for Manning's return although various media outlets report that he will be out for two or three months.

The Colts' release termed yesterday's procedure as "uneventful".

The Colts prepare for life without Manning as well as the Houston Texans as practice continues at the team's Westside Indianapolis headquarters.

Kerry Collins will get the start at quarterback in place of Manning.

The main injury concerns for the Colts are at wide receiver, where Anthony Gonzalez and Blair White have been limited due to injuries.

Linebacker Gary Brackett returned to practice on Thursday.

Brackett missed practice on Wednesday to attend the birth of his son.

The Colts already know that their top offensive player will be out Sunday in Houston.

The Texans are still unsure about the availability of their best weapon on offense - running back Arian Foster.

Foster has been slowed by a hamstring injury suffered in a preseason game two weeks ago.

The NFL rushing leader from last season sat out practice on Thursday, but says he thinks he will play Sunday against the Colts.

Foster ran for 231 yards against the Colts in the Texans 34-24 win on opening day last year.

The 231-yard performance was the best for a running back in a single game last season.
