(CHICAGO, IL) - Shaun Marcum pitched eight strong innings as the Milwaukee Brewers moved closer to the NL Central title with a 5-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.
The Brewers scored four runs in the third on an RBI double by Corey Hart and run-scoring singles from Nyjer Morgan, Ryan Braun and Rickie Weeks.
Weeks would add another RBI in the fifth as Milwaukee built a 5-0 lead.
Marcum made his only mistake in the sixth when he gave up a home run to Chicago's Starlin Castro to lose his shutout.
Marcum allowed a run on five hits to move to 13-7.
Cubs starter Randy Wells took the loss to fall to 7-5.
The Brewers' magic number for clinching the division is down to three.
