(CINCINNATI, OH) - Rookie Devin Mesoraco and Brandon Phillips homered as the Cincinnati Reds broke a four-game losing streak with a 6-4 victory over the Houston Astros.
Mesoraco gave the Reds the early lead with a two-run shot in the second.
Jay Bruce added a two-run single and Phillips hit a solo shot in the eighth to give Cincinnati some insurance.
Houston's runs came via two-run homers with JD Martinez hitting a shot off Reds starter Homer Bailey in the third and Chris Johnson adding a pinch-hit shot off reliever Bill Bray in the eighth.
Bailey went seven innings, allowing six hits to get the win and improve to 9-7.
Astros starter Bud Norris took the loss to drop to 6-11.
