(CHICAGO, IL) - Talks between the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs over Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein remain at a stalemate.
ESPN.com cites a source who says it will be at least Friday before any announcement would be made.
The Cubs were given permission to negotiate with Epstein, who has one year remaining on his deal with Boston.
The Cubs and Epstein have reached agreement on a five-year deal, but the Red Sox are demanding compensation which the two teams have not been able to agree on.
Major League Baseball restricts major announcements being made during the World Series, meaning a formal announcement could come on an off-day during the series or after the World Series ends.
