(KANSAS CITY, KA) - Five-time Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson climbed back into the title picture yesterday by holding of Kasey Kahne to take the checkered flag at Kansas Speedway.
Johnson is now four points behind chase leader Carl Edwards after his dominating run at the 1.5 mile tri-oval.
Brad Keselowski was third, followed by Matt Kenseth and Edwards.
Tony Stewart came in fifteenth and slipped four spots to seventh in points.
Jeff Gordon finished the regular season strong and was expected to contend for the title.
The former Pittsboro man finished 34th and is now tenth in points, and Ryan Newman held steady in eleventh in points after finishing 18th at Kansas.
The Chase continues Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The Izod IndyCar World Championships are Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas.
Dario Franchitti has an eighteen point lead over Will Power for first place entering the final race of the season.
