(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Josh Hamilton and Michael Young hit sacrifice flies in the top of the ninth inning as the Texas Rangers edged the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 in game two of the World Series.
The best of seven series is tied at a game apiece.
St. Louis got on the scoreboard in the seventh when David Freese scored on Allen Craig's pinch-hit RBI single.
Craig entered the game to bat for Cardinals' starting pitcher Jaime Garcia, who threw seven shutout innings. Jason Motte came in to close the game for St. Louis, but gave up back-to-back singles to Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus.
Arthur Rhodes relieved Motte and gave up the sacrifice fly to Hamilton.
Lance Lynn replaced Rhodes and gave up the winning sacrifice fly to Young.
Texas Closer Neftali Feliz allowed a leadoff walk to Yadier Molina but proceeded to retire the next three batters to wrap up the Rangers' win.
Game three is Saturday night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
