(NEW YORK, NY) - NBA Players Association President Derek Fisher says they will not accept the league’s latest collective bargaining agreement offer.
The NBPA has asked for another meeting with Commissioner David Stern and league's labor relations committee today.
Stern has instituted a deadline for this afternoon at which time the league will pull the current offer off the table.
The current proposal calls for the players to receive between 49 and 51 percent of basketball-related income.
After the deadline, Stern has said that the next offer will be worse with the players receiving around 47-percent of BRI and the league introducing a restrictive "flex cap" on player salaries.
Players representatives from the 30 teams met in New York on Tuesday.
The Union did not conduct a formal vote of the assembled players yesterday, but reports say that they would accept a 50-50 split of BRI if the league makes concessions regarding other system issues, including luxury tax penalties.
The players received up to 57 percent of basketball related income minus some off-the-top charges in the last CBA.
That agreement expired on July 1st, at which time the league locked out the players.
