(WEST LAFAYETTE) - The Purdue offense is a little shorthanded as the Boilermakers prepare for their Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl game with Western Michigan.
Junior running back Akeem Shavers is back at practice but is not participating in contact drills after suffering a concussion against Iowa on November 19th.
Shavers missed Purdue's regular season finale at Indiana. Before suffering the concussion, Shavers had been battling a rib injury.
He ran for 370 yards with six touchdowns during the regular season.
Shavers is expected to be the Boilers' featured back with leading rusher Ralph Bolden shelved due to a torn ACL in his right knee.
Wide Receiver OJ Ross remains suspended indefinitely.
Head Coach Danny Hope says Ross' suspension is academics-related.
Final exams are this week at Purdue and Ross can return to the team in time for the December 27th game in Detroit if he makes grades.
Purdue enters the bowl game at 6-6 while the Broncos are 7-5.
