(DETROIT, MI) - The Purdue football season comes to an end this afternoon as the Boilermakers face the Western Michigan Broncos in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit.
The Boilers went 6-and-6 in the regular season and needed their 33-25 win at Indiana in the season finale to become bowl eligible. A victory in this afternoon's game would give Purdue its first winning season since 2007.
The Boilermakers are expected to be without leading rusher Ralph Boldin or receiver OJ Ross in the lineup. Boldin suffered a knee injury against the Hoosiers and is not expected to play in today's game. Freshman Akeem Hunt will likely replace Boldin in the starting lineup. Ross was suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.
The Broncos are 7-and-5 and are in a bowl game for the first time since losing to Rice in the 2008 Texas Bowl. Western Michigan is 0-and-4 all-time in bowl games.
