(DETROIT, MI) - Akeem Shavers ran for 149 yards and Purdue’s quarterback duo of Caleb Terbush and Robert Marve combined for a pair of touchdown passes as the Boilermakers got past Western Michigan 37-32 at the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit.
Terbush completed 8-of-13 passes for 101 yards and a score while Marve went 6-for-7 for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Reggie Pegram had a touchdown run and a TD catch as he and Shavers made up for the absence of Ralph Boldin, who was sidelined by a knee injury.
Raheem Mostert added a 99-yard kickoff return for a score as the Boilers finish the season at 7-and-6, their first winning campaign since 2007.
Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder threw for 439 yards with three touchdowns but also threw four interceptions as the Broncos fall to 0-and-5 all-time in bowl games.
Jordan White was Carder's favorite target. The senior wide receiver caught 13 passes for 265 yards and a score in his final game as a collegian.
With the loss, Western Michigan ends its season at 7-and-6.
