(SOUTH BEND, IN) - Notre Dame enters Big East play tonight when they welcome the 22nd-ranked Pitt Panthers to Purcell Pavilion in South Bend.
The Fighting Irish are 8-and-5, but are a perfect 8-and-0 at home this season. They will need a little home cooking against the Panthers, who are 11-and-2 on the season. Pitt is coming off a shocking loss to Wagner last Friday.
The Irish have not played in eight days. Their last outing was a 106-65 pounding of sacred heart in South Bend.
Eric Atkins and Jerian Grant have been Notre Dame's top scorers since Tim Abromaitis went down with a season-ending knee injury last month. Atkins averages just under 14 points per game with Grant scoring 12.7 points per game.
The Panthers are led by senior guard Ashton Gibbs. The Big East preseason player of the year is averaging 17.2 points per contest.
