(SOUTH BEND, IN) - Former Columbus East Quarterback Gunner Kiel enrolled at the University Of Notre Dame on Tuesday.
The reigning Indiana Mr. Football made the move after rumors spread Monday that he was rescinding his commitment to LSU.
Kiel originally committed to Indiana in July, but decided to reopen his recruitment last fall and committed to LSU in December.
Kiel said in a release from Notre Dame that the quality of education, closeness to his home and the comfort level with the players and coaches in the football program were his reasons for choosing the Fighting Irish.
Kiel graduated from Columbus East a semester early in order to enroll in college now to get an early start.
He passed for 2,517 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior, leading the Olympians to a 12-2 mark in 2011.
He follows in the footsteps of his uncle, Blair Kiel, who was a quarterback for the Fighting Irish from 1980 to 1983.
