(PISCATAWAY, NJ) - Rutgers used balanced scoring and an awful night by Notre Dame at the free throw line to defeat the Fighting Irish 65-58.
Eli Carter led the Scarlet Knights with 13 points with Jerome Seagears and Austin Johnson adding ten points each as Rutgers improves to 11-8, 3-3 in the Big East.
Eric Atkins scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Irish with Scott Martin finishing with eleven as Notre Dame could not overcome its 5-13 night from the charity stripe.
The Irish lose for the seventh time in eight games away from South Bend this season, falling to 11-8, 3-3 in the conference.
Notre Dame returns to action Saturday when they face number-one Syracuse at Purcell Pavilion.
