(UNDATED) - Colts fans have mixed react after the release of quarterback Peyton Manning.
Many say they are shocked and sad to see him go, others say it's time to move on without looking back.
Big number 18 has been an institution in the blue and white since 1998. But the Colts will be parting ways with Peyton Manning. Those that are saddened by the passing feel they are losing a big legacy in Indianapolis.
But with questions looming on Manning's neck injury that forced him to miss all of last season, other expected Jim Irsay to cut ties with their franchise quarterback. Many believe Manning is at the end of his career and felt that $28 million is a lot of money to be risking on a player who may not be able to throw the football well.
While others say Manning was the only reason the Colts got a brand new stadium and hosted the Super Bowl last month. Fans pointed out that it's not just a loss for the team by to Indianapolis, meaning the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Who will replace Manning? Fans say the Colts will pick up Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in April's NFL draft. But others wonder if Luck has the talent and leaderships to fill Manning's shoes. Fans acknowledged it will not be an easy task.
Only time will tell if the Colts answer the $28 million question correctly.
