(SEBRING, FL.) - In racing, Target Chip Ganassi Racing led the way as the IZOD IndyCar Series open test continues at Sebring International Raceway in Florida.
Scott Dixon turned in the quickest lap of the three days of practice so far, lapping the one and two-thirds-mile course in 51.79 seconds for a speed of 116.077 miles an hour. Dixon is the only driver to turn in a sub-52 second lap and to exceed the 116-mile-an-hour mark.
Ganassi teammate and defending series champion Dario Franchitti was second at 115.3 miles per hour with KV Racing's Rubens Barrichello third at 115.1. The two Ganassi cars are powered by Honda engines while Barrichello's car is powered by Chevrolet.
In between the two Ganassi cars and Barrichello on the combined speed chart for the week are the three cars from Team Penske. Helio Castroneves, Will Power and Ryan Briscoe turned in laps in the low-115-mile-an-hour range on Tuesday.
The week of testing concludes today. The IndyCar Series season begins March 25th as they race through the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
