(BLOOMINGTON) - Criss Beyers was hired as the new head boys’ basketball coach of Martinsville High School.
Beyers is an assistant boys' basketball coach at Bloomington High School South. Beyers joined the South Panthers as an assistant coach in 1979. He is a graduate of Indiana University.
"There are some good players there to build with, and their kids have always played hard," Beyers said, "I've always had a great deal of respect for the community support Martinsville shows and hope to justify it, if I'm given the chance."
Beyers will also teach physical education classes and assist in the athletic administration, according to a release from the Martinsville School District.
"We welcome coach Beyers to our educational family and the Martinsville community," the release said.
Beyers will replace Tim Wolf, the former coach who resigned Feb. 16 after he was found "in a state of nudity" in his car at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, according to a police report filed by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The report stated that a 17-year-old female was also in the car with Wolf.
