(Denver, CO) - For the second year in a row, Notre Dame will play for the NCAA Women’s Basketball championship.
For the second year in a row, the Fighting Irish got past Big East rival Connecticut to advance to the title game. The Irish needed overtime to knock out the Huskies 83-75 in the first national semifinal game.
Natalie Novosel led Notre Dame with 20 points including a putback with four seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.
Skylar Diggins added 19 points with Devereaux Peters scoring 17 points and grabbing twelve rebounds as the Irish improve to 35-and-3.
Stefanie Dolson led UConn with 20 points with Bria Hartley finishing with 18 as the Huskies end their season at 33-and-5.
Notre Dame will face Baylor in tomorrow night's championship game. The Bears ran their record to 39-and-0 with a 59-47 win over Stanford. The Irish faced Baylor last November in Waco with the Bears coming away with a 94-81 victory.
