(KANSAS CITY, KS) - Denny Hamlin beat Martin Truex Jr. to the line by seven-tenths of a second to win Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway.
Truex led a race-high 173 laps, but was passed by Hamlin with 30 laps remaining. Jimmie Johnson finished third with Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle rounding out the top five.
Truex moves into second place in points, 15 behind Biffle. Kenseth is third in points, 17 behind Biffle with Dale Earnhardt Junior 21 points back and Hamlin moving up six spots to fifth in points, 23 points behind the leader.
Among the Indiana Drivers, Tony Stewart was the final car on the lead lap and finished 13th, Ryan Newman was two laps down in 20th place, Jeff Gordon finished 21st and David Stremme was out early and finished 38th.
The Sprint Cup Series races again on Saturday night at Richmond.
