Pacers Rest Starters, Still Defeat Pistons

Last updated on Tuesday, April 24, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Pacers gave three starters the night off. It didn’t matter as the Blue-and-Gold beat the Detroit Pistons 103-97 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The two starters who did dress - Paul George and David West - led the way for Indiana. George scored 27 points and grabbed ten rebounds with West adding 20 points as the Pacers won for the twelfth time in their last 14 games.

Detroit outshot Indiana 46 percent to 38 percent from the field, but the Pacers made up the difference at the free throw line, outscoring the Pistons 29-13 from the charity stripe. Greg Monroe led the Pistons with 18 points and twelve boards with Brandon Knight adding 16 points.

The Pacers improve to 42-and-23 heading to Wednesday night's regular season finale against the Chicago Bulls in Indianapolis. Indiana has already wrapped up the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. They will face either Orlando or New York in the first round with the Magic currently in control of the number-six seed.
