(LONG BEACH, CA) - Will Power made it two wins in a row, holding off Simon Pagenaud at the end to win the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Power had to make his way through the field after being docked ten spots following qualifying because Team Penske made an unapproved engine change before the start of activity on Friday.
All eleven cars running Chevrolet engines, as well as two with Lotus motors, underwent unapproved engine changes before the weekend began and were docked ten positions on the starting grid.
Ryan Hunter Reay finished third on the track, but was penalized for making avoidable contact with Takuma Sato's car on the final lap. James Hinchcliffe wound up third, recording his first podium finish in the IZOD IndyCar Series. Tony Kanaan was fourth with JR Hildebrand coming in fifth after Hunter-Reay was knocked back to sixth.
Power takes a 24-point lead over teammate Helio Castroneves in the IndyCar Series driver standings. Castroneves won the season-opener at St. Petersburg with Power taking the races at Barber Motorsports Park and Long Beach as Team Penske has opened the season by winning the first three races.
The series heads to Brazil for the Sao Paulo Indy 300 on April 29th.
