(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis Colts announced the signing of 15 free agents as the team gets its roster set for this weekend’s three-day rookie minicamp.
Among the undrafted free agents coming to terms with the Colts is wide receiver Griff Whalen, who caught four touchdown passes from Andrew Luck last season at Stanford.
Nine of the 15 signees play defense with five offensive players and a punter making up the rest of the undrafted rookie class.
Defensive back seems to be one area the Colts are trying to address through free agency with three of the rookies being listed as defensive backs and two more being listed as safeties. Cornerback was a postition targeted during last weekend's draft, but Indianapolis was unable to select one.
The Colts also signed former IFL and UFL tight end Dominque Jones and claimed running back Deji Karim off waivers from Jacksonville. Karim played in 23 games for the Jaguars, rushing for 290 yards while recording 17 pass receptions for 130 yards over two seasons. Karim also returns kickoffs, averaging 24.7 yards per return in Jacksonville.
The new players will participate in the three-day minicamp which gets underway Friday morning and lasts through Sunday. The Colts' ten draft picks will also participate in this weekend's camp.
