(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Hoosiers won’t face the Kentucky Wildcats in men’s basketball in the 2012-13 regular season.
The rivalry is being discontinued because the two universities could not agree on the venues in which to play the game.
Indiana would like to see the series continue as it has since 2006, with games on campus at Assembly Hall in Bloomington and at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Kentucky officials want the game at neutral sites in Indianapolis and Louisville.
The games were played at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis and at Freedom Hall in Louisville between 1991 and 2005.
IU athletic director Fred Glass issued a release saying they would be open to reviving the series in the future on a home-and-home basis.
