(INDIANAPOLIS) - Marco Andretti turned in the fastest lap of the month during practice Tuesday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Andretti's lap of 223.676 miles an hour came just before the close of practice as he knocked Helio Castroneves off the top of the speed chart. Castroneves was the only other driver above 222 miles per hour.
James Hinchcliffe, Graham Rahal and Ryan Hunter-Reay round out the top five.
Thirty car-driver combinations participated on Tuesday.
Rookie Jean Alesi did not practice, leaving Simona De Silvestro as the lone driver of a Lotus-powered car to turn a lap yesterday. De Silvestro's quickest lap of 210.315 miles per hour was more than seven miles an hour slower than Rubens Barrichello's 29th-place lap.
The Dragon Racing duo of Katherine Legge and Sebastien Bourdais still has not turned a lap this month as the team tries to hammer out an engine deal.
Teams have three more days of practice to prepare for Pole Day on Saturday.
