(UNDATED) - The Indiana University - Kentucky basketball series remains in limbo as IU athletic director Fred Glass’ latest attempt at a compromise was shot down by UK’s Mitch Barnhart.
Glass proposed that the schools play the 2012 and 2013 games at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with the 2014 game going to Rupp Arena in Lexington and the 2015 contest being played at Assembly Hall in Bloomington. The 2013 game in Indianapolis could be part of a multi-team event.
Barnhart is still lobbying for a two-year, neutral site agreement. Indiana wants the series to include home-and-home games on the two campuses.
Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari is the driving force behind the Wildcats' desire to face the Hoosiers at neutral sites. Adding to the problem is Kentucky's additions of North Carolina and Baylor to their non-conference schedule over the next two seasons.
Barnhart says they have offered to play the Hoosiers in Indianapolis on either December 15th or the 22nd this season.
