(INDIANAPOLIS) - ESPN is reporting that Butler will officially join the Atlantic 10 conference today.
The report on ESPN's website Tuesday night cites a source with direct knowledge of the negotiations as saying the Bulldogs will leave the Horizon League for the A10 beginning with the 2013-14 school year.
Butler would replace Temple, which is leaving to join the Big East in 2013.
The addition of Butler's men's basketball program was the key for the Atlantic 10 with the conference losing the traditionally powerful Temple basketball program after next season.
The A10 has a strong midwestern presence with Butler joining Xavier, Dayton, Duquesne and Saint Louis in the conference.
