(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was busy on Tuesday as drivers from the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series participated in a tire test on the Speedway’s road course.
Among the drivers testing on the 2.534-mile course was four-time Indianapolis 500 starter Scott Pruett. Also participating was Pruett's teammate, Memo Rojas, who says the IMS road course is wider than most tracks on the circuit which should lead to more side-by-side racing.
GRAND-AM's maiden venture at the Brickyard will be part of the Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard in late July. Both the Daytona Prototype cars and the GT series cars from the Rolex series will participate on Friday, July 27th. Pruett expects 50 to 60 cars from the two classes to be participating, which he says will be tough on the drivers but great for the spectators.
The rest of the Super Weekend will feature NASCAR with the Nationwide Series running on the Speedway's oval on Saturday, July 28th and the Sprint Cup Series running in the 19th-Annual Brickyard 400 presented by Crown Royal the following day.
