(DETROIT, MI) - Scott Dixon led all sixty laps and won the shortened Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix Sunday.
The race was originally slated for ninety laps, but damage to the track caused Indycar Race Director, Beax Barfield, to call for a red flag after bringing the drivers back into the pits.
Previously on lap thirty nine, the cars of James Hinchclliffe and Takuma Sato almost simultaneously crashed because of stray chunks of asphalt on the Detroit road coarse. A two hour delay was followed by a fifteen lap shootout, where Dixon was able to hold off teammate Dario Franchitti for a one-two Ganassi racing finish for the second weekend in a row.
Simon Pagenaud finished third, followed by points leader Will Power and Oriol Servia. Indycar returns to oval racing next weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
