(Indianapolis, IN) - Indiana Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird is scheduled to meet with team owner Herb Simon this week regarding Bird’s future with the franchise.
Bird has dealt with Simon on a year-to-year basis and is expected to return for another season once the two discuss several issues.
One of those issues is expected to be current Pacers general manager David Morway. Several media outlets report that Morway will be ousted and replaced by current player personnel director Kevin Pritchard. Morway has served as Bird's main assistant since former Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh left the team in 2008 and Bird assumed control of basketball operations.
Morway recently interviewed for the general manager's job with the Portland Trail Blazers but lost out to former Clippers GM Neil Olshey. Pritchard is a former Portland GM who was hired by the Pacers last summer after being fired by the Blazers in 2010.
