(UNDATED) - The Indiana Pacers wound up keeping the number-26 pick and took Duke forward Miles Plumlee in last night’s NBA Draft.
Plumlee is just under seven-feet tall and plays with an aggressive style reminiscent of current Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough.
Plumlee is a native of Warsaw, Indiana and played his freshman and sophomore years for the Tigers before attending Christ School in Arden, North Carolina for his junior and senior seasons in high school. As a senior for the Blue Devils, he averaged 6.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
The Pacers acquired a second-round pick from Sacramento for cash and took six-foot-five swingman Orlando Johnson out of UC Santa Barbara at number-36.
Johnson is a good three-point shooter and passer who needs to work on ball handling and defense.
Tyler Zeller and Marquis Teague joined Plumlee as players with Indiana ties to go in the first round of last night's draft. Zeller, the 2008 Indiana Mister Basketball out of Washington High School and the University of North Carolina, went with the 17th pick to the Dallas Mavericks. Zeller's draft rights were then traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Teague, an Indianapolis native who was the point guard on Kentucky's national championship team, went to the Chicago Bulls with the 29th pick.
Purdue's Robbie Hummel was taken in the second round by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 58th-overall selection.
Among the players who went undrafted was IUPUI's Alex Young.
