(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts open a three-day camp for rookies and injured veterans today at the team’s headquarters.
As of early this morning, there has been no word from the Colts concerning second-round pick Coby Fleener and third-round pick Dwayne Allen, who remain unsigned.
Following this week's rookie camp, all team members will report to Anderson University on Saturday for the start of training camp. They will have two weeks to get ready for the preseason opener with the St. Louis Rams on August 12th.
The Colts are looking to rebound from a 2-and-14 season and have cleaned house. Chuck Pagano gets his first shot as a head coach after spending last season as defensive coordinator at Baltimore. General manager Ryan Grigson has stepped in as the team's chief decision maker after vice president Bill Polian was fired in January.
On the field, the Colts will try to replace several leaders, including quarterback Peyton Manning, center Jeff Saturday and linebacker Gary Brackett.
The Colts announced Tuesday that they will honor former running back Edgerrin James by inducting him into the team's Ring of Honor at Lucas Oil Stadium. The ceremony will take place during the team's Week-Three game with the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 23rd.
James was selected by the Colts with the fourth-overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft and played in Indianapolis through the 2005 season. He holds several franchise career records including rushing yards, rushing attempts, rushing touchdowns, games of 100 or more yards and seasons of 1,000 or more yards. He was elected to the Pro Bowl four times. He will become the ninth honoree in the Colts Ring of Honor.
