(Indianapolis, IN) - Civic leaders and Several members of the Indiana football community gathered at Lucas Oil Stadium yesterday to officially announce the city’s intention to host another Super Bowl.
Indianapolis will contend for the 2018 Super Bowl with a proposal due in early 2014.
City leaders were confident about raising the private funds necessary to support a second Super Bowl in Indianapolis. Private industry contributed about 28 million dollars ahead of the city's successful bid to host the game in 2012.
While many of the corporate donors haven't made firm pledges for another Super Bowl, the committee has said exploratory efforts have been overwhelmingly positive.
Governor Mitch Daniels was joined by Host Committee CEO Alison Melangton and Mayor Greg Ballard at the news conference.
