(Pittsburgh, PA) - The St. Louis Cardinals solidified their hold on second place in the NL Central with a 4-3 victory over the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
The Pirates scored two runs in the fourth before the Redbirds tied it in the fifth on an RBI double by Skip Schumaker and a run-scoring single from starting pitcher Kyle Lohse.
Matt Holliday led off the top of the sixth with a go-ahead solo homer off Pittsburgh starter AJ Burnett with Yadier Molina adding a sacrifice fly later in the inning.
Clint Barmes hit an RBI double in the seventh to pull the Pirates to within a run, but they would get no closer.
Lohse gets the win to move to 14-2 while Burnett takes the loss to drop to 15-5.
Pittsburgh falls three games behind St. Louis in the Central.
