(Chicago, IL) - Jeremy Guthrie pitched eight shutout innings as the Kansas City Royals edged the Chicago White Sox 2-1.
Mike Moustakas put the Royals on the scoreboard in the second when he hit a solo home run off Sox starter Jose Quintana.
Salvador Perez made it 2-0 KC in the fourth when he hit a solo shot off Quintana.
That was all of the scoring until the bottom of the ninth when Adam Dunn doubled and scored on a single from AJ Pierzynski.
Greg Holland retired Alexei Ramirez on a soft liner to shortstop to end the game and get the save. Guthrie improves to 4-12 while Quintana falls to 4-2.
Detroit also lost last night so Chicago maintains their half-game lead over the Tigers atop the AL Central.
