(Cincinnati, OH) - Ryan Hanigan’s RBI single with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Cincinnati Reds a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Pinch hitter Xavier Paul led off the ninth with a triple off Cubs reliever Shawn Camp and Hanigan followed with his game-winner, driving in his second run of the game.
Cincinnati starter Mat Latos pitched eight strong innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and driving in a run with a single.
Jay Bruce and Wilson Valdez also had run-scoring singles for the Reds, who take three of four in the series.
David DeJesus had an RBI double for Chicago with Alfonso Soriano driving in a pair on a sacrifice fly and a groundout.
