(Watkins Glen, NY) - The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Watkins Glen this weekend for Sunday afternoon’s Finger Lakes 355 at the Glen.
Two practices are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon with qualifying getting underway late Saturday morning.
Marcos Ambrose is the defending race winner. The race for the top spot in the Sprint Cup points standings tightened significantly following last Sunday's Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono with the top four being separated by just eight points.
Dale Earnhardt Junior is in first place, five points ahead of Matt Kenseth.
Greg Biffle is in third place, just six points behind Earnhardt while Jimmie Johnson is only eight points out of the points lead. Including Sunday's race, five events remain before the start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
The top ten in points make the Chase along with two wild cards. The top ten appears set with number ten Clint Bowyer entering the weekend with a 57-point advantage on eleventh-place Kasey Kahne.
The battle is over the wild card spots where the two drivers outside the top ten with the most wins will advance.
Kahne's two victories gives him the first wild card slot while Jeff Gordon and Ryan Newman are tied with one victory apiece as well as being tied in the first tiebreaker category - Sprint Cup points.
