(Pittsburgh, PA) - Wandy Rodriguez and three relievers combined on a five-hit shutout as the Pittsburgh Pirates blanked the St. Louis Cardinals 5-0.
Pedro Alvarez continues to swing a hot bat, hammering a three-run home run off Cardinals starter Joe Kelly.
Garrett Jones had an R-B-I double and Josh Harrison hit a run-scoring single for the Pirates, who move a game behind the second-place Cardinals in the NL Central.
Rodruguez went six innings, allowing three hits to move to 9-13.
Kelly takes the loss to drop to 4-6.
St. Louis falls eight games behind first-place Cincinnati in the Central.
