(Kansas City, MO) - Salvador Perez hit a go-ahead RBI single in Kansas City’s three-run eighth as the Royals got past the Chicago White Sox 5-2 to complete a three-game series sweep.
Perez drove in the first two runs of the game with a double in the sixth.
The Sox tied the game in the eighth when Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer's error allowed Dayan Viciedo and Rey Olmedo to score.
Lorenzo Cain also had an RBI single in the eighth for KC.
Both starters pitched well but did not figure in the decision.
Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie went seven and two-thirds innings, allowing a pair of unearned runs on three hits.
Chicago starter Jose Quintana allowed two earned runs on nine hits over seven innings.
Despite the loss, the Sox remain a game and a half ahead of Detroit in the AL Central as the Tigers lost at home to Baltimore.
