(Chicago, IL) - The Chicago Cubs snapped a three-game losing streak with a 7-1 victory over the Houston Astros.
Jeff Samardzija allowed a run on four hits in his seven innings of work, walking three while striking out eleven to improve to 8-10.
Samardzija's only mistake was allowing a solo homer to pinch-hitter Brandon Barnes in the sixth.
Darwin Barney and Alfonso Soriano hit two-run home runs off Astros starter Armando Galarraga, who allowed five runs over five innings to fall to 0-3.
Anthony Rizzo and Wellington Castillo added RBI singles for Chicago.
