The Pitcher Formerly Known As Fausto Carmona Returns

Last updated on Thursday, August 16, 2012

(Anaheim, CA) - Roberto Hernandez’ return to the Cleveland Indians’ starting rotation was not a successful one as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Indians 8-4.

Chris Iannetta and Mike Trout homered off Hernandez, who pitched the first time under his real name after using the assumed name Fausto Carmona during his first six years with Cleveland.

Angels Starter Ervin Santana allowed a run on four hits over seven innings to move to 6-10 on the season.

Hernandez was not helped by his defense as the Indians committed three errors on the night. Hernandez went six innings, allowing eight runs total, five earned, on ten hits to drop to 0-1.

Hernandez was arrested in the Dominican Republic in January while trying to renew his visa, which he did not receive until last month.

He served a three-week suspension for age and identity fraud before being activated on Tuesday.
