(St. Louis, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals kept pace with the Reds in the NL Central, beating the New York Mets 5-1.
Jaime Garcia allowed an unearned run in his seven and a third innings of work to get the win and move to 4-6.
Skip Schumaker, Daniel Descalso and David Freese had RBI singles as the Redbirds remain eight and a half games behind Cincinnati in the division.
Mets starter Matt Harvey gave up three earned runs over five innings to drop to 3-4.
