(Kansas City, MO) - Eric Hosmer’s RBI single with two out in the bottom of the ninth gave the Kansas City Royals a 4-3 comeback win over the Chicago White Sox.
The Sox built an early 3-0 lead with A-J Pierzynski driving in a run in the first with a single and Chicago scoring a pair of unearned runs in the second.
KC got on the board with Johnny Giavotella's two-run triple in the fifth and tied it on Billy Butler's RBI double in the sixth.
Butler led off the bottom of the ninth with a single off Jesse Crain and was lifted for pinch-runner Jerome Dyson.
After Crain retired the next two batters, Dyson stole second and Crain intentionally walked Jeff Francoeur.
Matt Thornton relieved Crain and gave up Hosmer's game-winner.
The White Sox remain two games ahead of Detroit in the AL Central race as the Tigers lost at home to Oakland.
