(Chicago, IL) - The Detroit Tigers are within a game of first-place Chicago in the AL Central after knocking off the White Sox 8-6.
Prince Fielder hit a three-run home run with Austin Jackson driving in a pair as the Tigers built an 8-1 lead.
The Sox cut the lead to 8-5 on Kevin Youkilis' second home run of the night, a three-run bomb off Juaquin Benoit in the eighth.
Alexei Ramirez would drive in a run in the night, but Jose Valverde would work out of the jam to collect his 30th save.
Detroit starter Max Scherzer went six innings, allowing a run on four hits to move to 16-6.
Gavin Floyd gave up three runs in his four and two-thirds innings of work to take the loss for the Sox, dropping to 9-10.
